Bill and Connie Hamm are a typical American couple, who live in suburbia, and seem posed for a comfortable retirement.  But when the economic realities of the 21st Century collide with an unwelcome visit from their daughter’s new boyfriend, the bonds of family and friendship are tested in new ways.  Through this inter-generational drama, Herman allows us to explore some of the ambient social, cultural and economic preoccupations of the day.
